Opening checklist: when should payments and systems be prepared?

A common problem is finishing fit-out before broadband or terminal approval is ready, leaving a new shop cash-only. Prepare early in this order:

  1. After signing the lease: Check broadband coverage and book installation promptly.
  2. After business registration and bank-account setup: Submit terminal and Octopus applications, allowing time for approval.
  3. During fit-out: Choose compatible POS and reserve checkout power and network connections.
  4. Before opening: Install and test all payment equipment and train staff in payments, refunds and daily settlement.
  5. After opening: Add membership apps, Wi-Fi promotions, displays and reservations according to operations.
